You had a good night’s sleep, but when you wake up, you still feel tired. How often does that happen to you?

I used to struggle with that a lot.

We all want to feel great when we wake up. After all, time is limited, and you want to make the best of your waking hours.

To make sure we have a good day, we need to start the evening before.

That’s why I created this 60-minute evening routine for myself, which sets me up for success. Here’s how it works.

Journal for 10 minutes

I’ve been consistently journaling since 2014. And my favorite time to journal is in the evening.

I’ve been doing it so long that my mind associates journaling in the evening with sleeping. I absolutely love taking 10 minutes in the evening to close out my day.

I ask myself, “What did I do today?” And I write down the first thing that comes to mind. Sometimes I only write a sentence like, “Good writing, a nice run, and some reading. Read a bit more tomorrow.”
